Wust, a subsidiary of BESIX Group that operates mainly in Wallonia, is characterised by its expertise in the renovation and refurbishment of public buildings, having taken part in various projects initiated by RenoWatt in recent years. In particular, Wust excels at refurbishing schools and sports buildings, and in so doing demonstrates its ability to breathe new life into essential infrastructure for local communities.

Just to refresh the reader’s memory, RenoWatt is a delegated mission set up by the Walloon Government to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings by supporting public bodies (municipalities, provinces, public centres for social welfare (CPAS), hospitals, police zones, etc.) in their energy transition.

Three major projects under the RenoWatt initiative are currently under way or have just been notified to Wust, further consolidating the latter’s position as a key player in this field:

Renowatt Seraing

This ambitious project includes the refurbishment of 18 buildings, including schools and crèches, in the municipality of Seraing. In addition to the refurbishment works, Wust has signed a 15-year energy performance contract, worth almost 16 million euros. This project is being carried out in a joint venture with Lixon and Equans.

Renowatt La Louvière

In La Louvière, Wust is involved in the refurbishment of various public buildings, including schools, crèches and cultural buildings. The project, worth over 54.6 million euros, also includes an energy performance contract. In this initiative too, Wust is working together with Equans.

Renowatt OWOB

The third project, called Reno7, involves the public housing company for the eastern cantons, with a budget of almost 13 million euros allocated to the design and implementation of refurbishment works for public housing in the municipalities of Eupen, Kelmis and Raeren. For this project, Wust is working together in a joint venture with Artau, PRP and A+Concept.

A resolute commitment to local communities

The amounts invested in these projects are not only significant in financial terms, they also include a dimension of socio-professional integration, support for SMEs and promotion of the Functional and Cooperative Economy (EFC). These projects are particularly representative of the resolute commitment of Wust to supporting local communities and promoting sustainable and inclusive practices.

Thanks to its technical know-how, Wust can pride itself on playing a significant role in the transformation and improvement of public infrastructure in Belgium!
