BESIX strengthens its sustainable investment portfolio by acquiring a stake in Mobius Benelux

BESIX Group is proud to announce that BESIX Invest, its investment arm, has acquired a minority stake in Mobius Benelux (a One Planet Studio venture), a fast-growing player in the circular economy, starting with the refurbishment and resale of raised access floor tiles. This investment reinforces BESIX’s commitment to carbon reduction through innovative and sustainable construction solutions.

Recycling of access floor tiles

Founded in 2023 by Mobius (the French mother company, founded in 2017) and One Planet Studio (a Belgian holding specialised in decarbonisation ventures), Mobius Benelux builds on a tested business model: recovering, refurbishing, and reselling raised access floor tiles. Since its creation, Mobius has already refurbished more than 350,000 m² of tiles across the European Union. With more than 700,000 m² of reusable tiles becoming available annually in the Benelux’s main cities alone, the opportunity is both environmentally and economically significant.

Mobius Benelux is planning to launch a new refurbishment line in Q3 2025 in Brussels further boosting local employment.

Waste reduction

Raised access tiles are modular elements used to create a technical space between the load-bearing floor and the final floor covering. They are an ideal material for reuse: they are of standard size, durable, not dependent of aesthetic choices (as they are often installed under a carpet), and largely composed of wood — enabling carbon storage. Reusing these tiles cuts CO₂ emissions by 70%, 5 % of the overall emissions of a new building / 10% of an existing one and helps demolition contractors reduce waste management costs and taxes. These environmental and financial advantages explain the growing demand among developers, architects, and project owners.

Thomas Vandenbergh, General Manager of BESIX Technology: Mobius Benelux is perfectly positioned at the intersection of major macro trends shaping our industry –decarbonisation, circularity, and resource efficiency. Their model is brilliantly simple: a proven, scalable system built on French experience. The team behind Mobius brings solid expertise and governance, as recognised by the BeCircular 2023 Award. We are proud to support a solution that is sustainable, economically sound, and creating jobs in the heart of Brussels.

Loïc Lambers, CEO of Mobius Benelux: “We are thrilled to welcome BESIX as a strategic investor in Mobius Benelux. BESIX brings deep industry knowledge, unique operational insight, and an exceptional network of partners — making them the ideal complement to our existing shareholders. Their understanding of the construction and real estate landscape allows us to better navigate regulatory and market dynamics. Beyond capital, BESIX provides access to new distribution channels and a boost in credibility that strengthens our brand and accelerates trust among partners and clients. As we prepare to scale, having such a solid and respected partner on board marks a key milestone in our growth journey.”

Noé Basch, co-founder of Mobius : "We aspired to expand our philosophy and business across the Benelux region, but without the expertise of One Planet Studio and the strong commitment of BESIX, this wouldn’t have been possible. Step by step, our goal is to bring material reuse into every component of construction throughout the Benelux."

About One Planet Studio

One Planet Studio is a collective of experienced entrepreneurs committed to launching cleantech joint ventures, across Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France. Their mission is to accelerate local re-industrialization and drive ambitious decarbonization efforts in the region.

To ensure successful market entry in the Benelux, One Planet Studio establishes local joint ventures in partnership with foreign cleantech companies (like Mobius Réemploi). They pilot these solutions with local industrial partners, recruit high-potential leadership teams, and secure the necessary funding — in this case, with BESIX. This ecosystem-driven approach is designed to effectively commercialize cleantech innovations within local markets.

About Mobius

Mobius specialises in reuse consulting and in the production of reconditioned building materials.
We are positioned as a key player in the reduction of waste, the use of raw materials and carbon emissions in the construction industry through reuse and repurposing.

Mobius Consulting offers an alternative perspective on (de)construction by proposing a "resource"-based approach to waste management. Resource diagnosis, project management support and environmental project management are just some of the solutions offered to project owners wishing to limit the environmental impact of their operations.

Mobius Industry implements the processes needed to bring reused construction products to market. After a product design cycle, Mobius creates the technical line for its implementation.

Mobius collaborates with architects, developers, and contractors to deliver both sustainability and performance.
