We are thrilled to announce the completion of the Velodrome, a state-of-the-art sport complex in Heusden-Zolder. This impressive 15,000 m² facility, delivered by BESIX’s affiliate Vanhout and partner Houben NV is set to become a hub for sporting excellence in the region. The Design, Build, and Maintenance contract was awarded back in 2020 by the non-profit organisation Sportcomplex Vlaanderen-Heusden Zolder for 21 million euros.
Breaking records on the wooden cycling track
One of the highlights of the velodrome is its 250-metre wooden cycling track (UCI class), where cyclists will have the opportunity to break records and showcase their skills in front of a grandstand of 1,000 fixed and 1,000 mobile seats. This world-class velodrome is expected to attract both professional and amateur cyclists from all over.
More than just cycling
In addition to the velodrome, the project boasts four homologated sports fields, providing ample space for various activities. Whether it's indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball, or badminton, this complex offers top-notch facilities for athletes of all these disciplines. To support athletes in their training and recovery, the Velodrome also features a cutting-edge topsport gymnasium (1,000 m²), fitness centre, and a fully-equipped medical centre. These facilities will ensure that athletes receive top-level care and support throughout their journey.
