Soon, colleagues at BESIX Infra will start a new phase of sewerage works in front of the Elementary School ‘The Ivy’ in East-Flanders, on behalf of client Aquafin, the main authority in charge for wastewater treatment in Flanders.

Before starting the work, Project Manager Bram from BESIX Infra delivered an informative presentation to students aged 6 to 12 about the sewer system, wastewater treatment, and the importance of renovation work. He was assisted by representative of the municipality and the client.

Following this, Gerrit from BESIX Infra Academy and truck driver Pieter guided the pupils and their teachers in small groups to understand the dangers of truck blind spots and the significance of making eye contact with construction site operators. Over 40 kids and teenagers experienced firsthand the invisibility in blind spots, improving their awareness of traffic dangers.

The pupils, pledging to share this awareness with their families, were rewarded with BESIX safety vests and BESIX keychains. Aquafin also distributed informative brochures and "Rio Limo" lemonade made from purified wastewater!

This engaging and educational afternoon significantly improved the safety and environmental awareness of the students and their teachers.

This program, organised by BESIX Infra, BESIX Infra Academy, and BESIX Infra QHSE, aims to better inform school environments during construction through flyers, site banners, and training for students, teachers, and their escorts.

Congratulations to all involved for making this initiative a resounding success!
