BESIX Group is pleased to announce the publication of its Citizenship & Sustainability (C&S) Report 2019-2021 and Charter, and the appointment of Geert Aelbrecht as Group Sustainability & ESG Officer, in addition to his role as Chief People Officer.

C&S Charter

The C&S Charter details BESIX Group's commitments in terms of citizenship and sustainable development. These are the reference points for determining the objectives and evaluating the group's achievements in a transparent manner, via its biennial C&S report.

Through its charter, BESIX Group commits itself to progress and to develop new actions in each of the defined areas, in accordance with its purpose: "Excel in creating sustainable solutions for a better world".

C&S Report

The 2019-2021 edition is BESIX Group's fourth C&S report. It presents, for the period in question, the concrete actions and the priority given by BESIX Group to the respect of human rights and the fight against climate change, through the promotion of sustainable and positive solutions specific to its sectors of activity. The report also addresses the expectations of BESIX Group's stakeholders in the social and environmental fields.

BESIX Group would like to give special thanks to Frédéric de Schrevel and Muriel Sacré for their efforts and commitment in creating this fantastic document.

Appointment of Geert Aelbrecht

In addition to his function as Chief People Officer of BESIX Group, Geert Aelbrecht has been appointed as the new Group Sustainability & ESG Officer. His mission is to further develop the C&S strategy in line with the group's business strategy and market demands, to support the group's C&S ambitions and to strengthen BESIX Group's action with new projects and action plans in the environmental and social fields.

Geert Aelbrecht succeeds Frédéric de Schrevel, who held this position from 2010 to 2021, in addition to his responsibilities as Secretary General and General Counsel of BESIX Group. Under his leadership, BESIX Group was one of the first companies to initiate a C&S roadmap and to publish a C&S report.

Muriel Sacré, who continues to coordinate sustainability & ESG efforts, will report to him.

Geert Aelbrecht: “As a global company, BESIX Group strives to be a leader of change in its business and to have a positive social and environmental impact, on our own activities and those of our partners, suppliers, and subcontractors. Firstly, we are committed to drastically minimising the impact of our activities on the environment, including reducing CO2 emissions, promoting circularity and waste sorting, and protecting biodiversity. Secondly, we want to remain an employer of choice at all our facilities and construction sites around the world by implementing and encouraging our partners to apply the highest standards of safety and respect for human rights.”
