Jean Polet appointed General Manager Key Projects, Jan Van Steirteghem appointed General Manager of the Business Unit Europe, and Fabian Boucher appointed Director Engineering

Dear colleagues,

As projects are growing in complexity, especially in the home market, we have decided to implement major changes in the general management of BESIX Contracting.

To emphasize the importance BESIX attaches to the excellent delivery of projects, we have created a new function of General Manager Key Projects, whose main task will be to provide strategic and managerial support to ensure successful delivery of complex projects whether they are in tendering or execution phase.

In this context, Jean Polet is appointed General Manager Key Projects. As General Manager Key Projects, Jean will support the General Managers of the different Business Units for the key projects in their respective region, according to the needs.

Jean leaves his position of General Manager of the Business Unit Europe. He keeps his role as a member of the Executive Committee of BESIX Group as well as in the Contracting & Strategy Circles. He also continues as Chairman of the Board of Van den Berg and BESIX Infra, and as a member of the Board at Socogetra and Franki Foundations.

During his tenure at the head of the Business Unit Europe, Jean has been a driving force in strengthening BESIX’s position in Benelux and France, while offering our clients the advantages of an important international player. His solid understanding of clients’ needs, his broad network in the sector and his recognized expertise will be valuable assets in his new role.

We are consequently pleased to appoint Jan Van Steirteghem as General Manager for the Business Unit Europe, succeeding Jean.

Jan becomes subsequently a member of the Executive Committee of BESIX Group.

An Architect-Engineer and a PhD in engineering by training, Jan joined the company in 2006. First as a project director in large scale Design & Build projects and since 2016 as Director Engineering he has been a driving force in growing BESIX’s in-house Engineering department, making it an essential industry reference.

We are convinced that Jan will be an outstanding leader providing all the support our committed teams deserve, and a trusted business partner for our clients. He brings both extensive project management & engineering expertise and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by the construction sector.

Both Jean and Jan will report to Pierre Sironval, COO of BESIX Group.

We are furthermore pleased to appoint Fabian Boucher as Director Engineering.

A Civil Engineer by training, Fabian joined BESIX in 2002. Over the last 18 years, he has developed his project expertise across all BESIX Business Units (Europe, Middle East, International and Australia). He will continue to drive the Engineering Department forward in this rapidly changing world, keeping it ahead of our industry thanks to its ability to innovate and its high-quality associates.

He will report to Pierre Sironval.

Finally, succeeding Fabian as Area Manager Marine & Civil Works within the International Business Unit, we welcome Olivier Vantomme.

Olivier, Mining Engineer by training, has previously worked for the DEME Group for 12 years, leading major dredging and marine works in various positions across the world.

Olivier will report to Mathieu Dechamps.

These newly appointed managers will ensure a clear and efficient handing over of their responsibilities over the coming two months, supporting each other during this crucial period to ensure continuity of operations, efficiency and clear decisions.

We wish Jean, Jan and Fabian the best in their new responsibilities and welcome Olivier to the team.
