Week of 20 April

1. Aramco Stadium taking shape (Saudi Arabia)

In Al‑Khobar, work on the Aramco Stadium is progressing smoothly, with 81% of the project now completed. Designed to welcome around 47,000 spectators, the stadium will include advanced cooling solutions and integrated entertainment facilities. Together with our partner Albawani, our teams are firmly on track to deliver the project by the end of 2026, ready to host matches of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Keep up the good work, team!

2. Progress in Nordhavn (Denmark)

In Copenhagen (Denmark), work on the Nordhavn Tunnel is moving steadily. The team is currently removing the temporary working platform in Kalkbrænderiløbet, the passage that provides access to the marina. This marks a key step towards reopening the marina in May 2026. The passage was temporarily closed while tunnel segments were constructed for the 1.4‑kilometre cut‑and‑cover tunnel, which will improve connections to the city’s northern harbour area.

3. Successful night works by Socogetra (Belgium)

In Liège, our Socogetra colleagues have successfully delivered a new cycle and pedestrian access to Guillemins train station for NMBS‑SNCB. Built in a highly constrained area between the railway tracks and the motorway ramp at the Cointe tunnel, the project required careful planning and night‑time working only. Despite these challenges, the team installed 13 spans over a total length of 86 metres in just three nights, instead of the five initially planned. A strong performance, achieved without track or catenary cuts and despite external disruptions. Well done to everyone involved for their rigour and commitment.

4. Restart road maintenance works in the south of the Netherlands

Last weekend, BESIX Nederland and BESIX Infra Nederland successfully completed a major maintenance operation on the A2 motorway. In one intensive weekend, 8,000 tonnes of asphalt were renewed, marking a solid first step in making this busy route future‑proof. And the job is not finished yet: three more working weekends are planned on the A2 in the coming period. The works are part of a four‑year framework agreement with Rijkswaterstaat for variable maintenance works in the south of the Netherlands.
