Week of 16 December
1. Roof structure is taking shape (New Zealand)
In Christchurch (New Zealand), One New Zealand Stadium is steadily taking shape, with the BESIX Watpac team concentrating on the roof structure installation. Over 60% has now been erected and the oculus trusses are currently being assembled. These remarkable structures will support the stadium’s fully enclosed roof and are put together on the ground in three segments. Each segment measures 45 metres in length, 15 metres in width, and 15 metres in height.

2. Second phase Deinze Liv-De Molens kicked off (Belgium)
Last Thursday, the second phase of the Liv-De Molens project in Deinze (Belgium) was symbolically kicked off in the presence of the client, 3D Real Estate, press and representatives of the municipality. BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg’s General Manager, Mark Beyst, was also present. Liv-De Molens is a mixed-use real estate project that is transforming a former industrial site of 2.2 hectare in a sustainable neighbourhood next to the river Leie. Good luck, team BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg!
3. Live evacuation drill at Rail Baltica Central Station project (Riga)
The safety and construction team at the Rail Baltica Riga Central Station project in Latvia recently organised a medical evacuation training. During this drill, an ‘injured’ worker was stuck inside the concrete railway bridge that’s under construction across the river Daugava. Thanks to the correct and swift reaction of the team, the worker was quickly evacuated by crane to the closest street, where the ‘ambulance’ was waiting to take him to the hospital. Well done, team Riga!
In the Latvian capital, the BERERIX consortium—including BESIX—is realizing the Rail Baltica Riga Central Station project, which includes the design and construction of a new central station building, a major railway bridge over the River Daugava, railway embankments, and track works.
4. End-of year lunch to celebrate hard work at Tour F (Ivory Coast)
Our colleagues in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) recently enjoyed a well-earned end-of-year lunch, uniting the site team to celebrate their outstanding dedication and achievements. Since construction on this impressive tower began in 2021, over 6.5 million work hours have been logged, highlighting the tremendous effort and commitment invested in this project. We can’t wait to see what 2025 holds for you, team Ivory Coast!
And then this… BESIX’s Schelle entities support charities (Belgium)
Last week, BESIX Infra, BESIX Unitec, Belasco and BESIX Infra Support hosted a festive Christmas market at their premises in Schelle, Belgium, for all their employees. Together, they raised an impressive €9,290, which was donated to the De Warmste Week initiative. What an incredible show of generosity from our colleagues!
De Warmste Week is an annual charity event in Belgium that encourages fundraising for social causes, promoting community spirit. In the week leading up to Christmas Eve, a team of radio presenters broadcast continuously from a single location in Belgium. This year, the event focuses on the theme of loneliness.
That’s not all! A few weeks ago, our BESIX Unitec colleagues won an Embuild Foundation Award for their support to non-profit organisation De Gemeenschap in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). De Gemeenschap is a youth center established and managed by individuals with a migration background. It provides support to vulnerable and unqualified young people. With the help of BESIX Unitec, De Gemeenschap was able to renovate its building. Bravo, colleagues!
