Week of 29 June
1. Reaching new heights at Matisse (Belgium)
Yesterday, our new Matisse office building and headquarters reached its highest point, a milestone worth celebrating. We marked the occasion in true construction tradition with a topping-out ceremony, perfectly timed just ahead of the summer holidays in Belgium.
This achievement reflects strong collaboration across our entities. Each team brings its own expertise. Together, we show how our integrated approach not only drives the project forward, but also builds pride along the way. What comes next? The façade.
As Jochem Slaets, Project Manager at Vanhout, explains: “In August, the prefab elements will arrive, after which we will install these combines aluminium-concrete elements like Lego building blocks that fit perfectly together. By November, the office building will have its final look.”

2. Laying the ground for what’s to come at Oisy-le-Verger (France)
What if one project could reshape transport across Europe? By 2032, the Seine-Nord Europe Canal will connect Compiègne to Aubencheul-au-Bac, creating a 107-kilometre link within the Seine–Escaut network. With a width of 54 metres, the canal will allow larger vessels to transport goods more efficiently. The impact is far-reaching: the canal is expected to remove around 1 million heavy trucks from French roads, saving more than 50 million tonnes of CO₂.
Seven locks will punctuate this major infrastructure project. One of them, the Oisy-le-Verger lock, will be delivered by a.o. our teams at BESIX FRance and Atlas Foundations (part of Franki Foundations). On site, earthworks are progressing steadily. Excavation, platform formation and drainage works are preparing the ground for the reinforced concrete hydraulic structures that will soon take shape.

3. Moving together for a vital cause (The Netherlands)
Unfortunately most of us know someone affected, directly or indirectly by cancer. Standing aside is not an option.
That’s why our colleagues at BESIX Netherlands are taking part in the KWF Step Challenge across the country. Individually and in teams, they have walked a maximum amount of kilometres during the last two weeks of June, with one clear goal: raising funds for cancer research. Their efforts generated more than €2,000 for cancer research. What makes this initiative truly powerful? It goes beyond counting steps. It’s about doing something together. Everyone contributes, in their own way as every step counts.
Kudos to everyone taking part in this meaningful initiative.

4. On site in Mozambique: leadership meets delivery
As we ramp up the design and construction of all permanent marine facilities for the Mozambique LNG Gas Development Project, including what is set to become one of the longest jetty structures ever built, our CEO Pierre Sironval visited our teams on site.
It was a moment to connect, and to take part in a safety moment, a clear reflection of our number one priority wherever we are, whenever we work. Leadership on the ground, alongside our colleagues and partners who turn plans into reality every day.
A big thank you to everyone contributing to this complex and essential project.
