30 new colleagues hired in Belgium: the success of the BESIX Young Professional Days

Time for an update on the great outcomes of the BESIX Young Professional Days (BYPD) recruitment process in Belgium.

The BYPD event, a dynamic blend of networking and professional speed dating, serves as the perfect platform for young professionals to explore the vast realm of BESIX's activities and immerse themselves in our company culture. Equally important, it presents BESIX with an exceptional opportunity to connect with potential recruits who align with our vision and values.

At BESIX, we understand the significance of continuously recruiting talented professionals who possess the skills and passion needed to deliver excellence. Hence the annual organisation of these BYPDs. This year, they took place over the course of three days in Ghent and Brussels, in March and April.

We had the pleasure of meeting a total of 88 participants. Out of these talented individuals, 30 exceptional profiles have been offered contracts and will begin their BESIX journey in the Fall of 2023.

Here's a couple of interesting facts about our new colleagues:

  • The starters are evenly divided into three significant segments, with approximately one third assigned to projects on site, one third to Engineering, and one third to Tender.
  • An interesting fact to highlight is that around two thirds of our new hires are Dutch-speaking, representing a substantial increase compared to last year's BYPD recruitments. Notably, 10 of these Dutch-speaking colleagues will directly join our workforce on site, effectively meeting the escalating demands of our Operations in Flanders. This achievement can be attributed to the unwavering dedication of our Recruitment team, who tirelessly engaged with Flemish campuses throughout the year.
  • Another noteworthy achievement is that an impressive 40% of our starters are women engineers. This is a tremendous milestone, particularly in light of the declining trend of women attending engineering schools in recent years.
  • Lastly, a significant 33% of our starters have previously completed internships within BESIX Group. This statistic unequivocally demonstrates the immense value and significance of our internship programs.
Big shoutout to the recruiters, interviewers, and hiring managers who played pivotal roles in the success of this edition. The largely positive feedback received from the candidates affirms the incredible impact BESIX makes through the Young Professional Days.
