The Saint-Denis Pleyel team celebrated the D-Day -100 milestone on 17 January and participated in a major focus meeting that was held on-site that day for the occasion with all parties involved. In exactly 91 days, the safety commission will decide about opening the Saint-Denis Pleyel station on line 14, which was extended from Orly Airport.
The emblematic station, designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, is an essential component of the Grand Paris Express network. Line 14 will be a strategic axis for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and will transport sports fans to the athletes' village, the Olympic aquatic centre, and the Stade de France. After the games, the line will provide better service to the North and South of the French capital.
The contract BESIX France signed with Société du Grand Paris, includes works to develop the station, covering a total area of 34,000 m² spread across nine levels – four of these below ground.
Things are speeding up now in what has now become a race against time. Façade works are being finalised, the various parts of the building are being powered up, floors and false ceilings are being put into place, various systems are being installed like lights, loudspeakers, fire detectors, or video surveillance), and lifts and escalators are being configurated.
Mid-February more than 500 trains will drive through the station each day for testing purposes on the rails of line 14.
Congratulations to our team in Paris and best of luck for this final stretch!
