New BESIX headquarters: feedback

Group 2 min read

Dear colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent workplace survey. With more than 300 responses and a representative participation across departments and roles, we now have a solid view of how we work today and what you need from tomorrow’s office. Here’s what you told us:

1. The office remains central to how we work

Most of us work in a hybrid rhythm, but the majority still prefer being regularly in the HQ. The office is clearly where collaboration happens: project work, coordination with colleagues, and internal meetings remain the core of our activity. Remote work supports this rhythm, it does not replace it.

2. Collaboration is strong, but focus and confidentiality need better support

You shared that half of your work requires concentration or privacy, yet our current environment does not fully enable it. Quiet zones, rooms for confidential discussions, and better acoustic performance are high priorities.

3. Comfort and ergonomics matter

Across teams, people asked for improved acoustics, more stable temperature control, better ventilation, and reliable IT infrastructure. Cleanliness and workspace comfort were also highlighted as essential to productive work.

4. Meeting and collaboration spaces need rebalancing

Most meetings involve small groups. The future office must therefore offer more small and medium rooms, supported by flexible project spaces and informal areas for quick exchanges.

5. Mobility and accessibility influence how you feel about the move

Transport options and parking availability are key concerns. You shared that flexibility helps you manage challenging days linked to traffic or family responsibilities.

6. A clear desire for modern, functional, people‑centered spaces

You expressed strong expectations for an environment that combines focus, collaboration, and wellbeing: ergonomic desks, quiet areas, better-equipped coffee corners, healthy catering, greenery, and spaces for informal interaction. Many also emphasised the need for clear information on future ways of working, desk allocation, and the practicalities of moving.

What happens next:

Your input is now being integrated into the spatial requirements and workplace scenarios that will be developed in the coming weeks. These scenarios will guide how we shape team zones, meeting facilities, shared spaces, and the balance between focus and collaboration areas.

Together with a network of ambassadors and sponsors, we will organise a series of sessions in the coming months to continue shaping the preparations for the move.
  • Ambassadors are colleagues from across teams and departments who represent the organisation’s diversity. They will take part in co‑creation sessions and bring forward your views, questions, and concerns so they can be reflected in the concept of the new HQ.
  • Sponsors are managers from all teams. They play an essential role in supporting the change, guiding their teams, and helping translate input and feedback into day‑to‑day practice.

This approach ensures your voice continues to be heard throughout the process and that feedback flows regularly across the organisation. The end of 2027 may still seem far away, but time will move quickly. We will keep you informed of next steps and progress through the usual communication channels.

Once again, thank you for your participation. Your contribution is helping us design a work environment that is both effective and enjoyable, built around what you need to succeed.
