Mission I’m Possible: Triangle

Group 1 min read

In a recent video, the team of Koen De Rooy (BESIX France), Thomas Wulleman (Franki Foundations), Hans Verbraken (Engineering) and Véronique Ottevaere (Planning & Methods) explain the challenges they faced during the foundation work for the Triangle project and how they overcame them.

Do you know the Triangle project? This emblematic 180-metre high tower, with its distinctive triangular shape, is located in the south of Paris (15th arrondissement) and is intended to house offices, a conference centre and a hotel. It will change the skyline of the French capital, becoming the third highest building in the city after the Eiffel Tower and the Montparnasse Tower.

This project is being carried out in close collaboration between different teams, including our colleagues at Franki Foundations and their French branch Atlas Fondations for the foundations, our in-house engineering office BED for the design and definition of working methods, and our operations colleagues on site in Paris.

Last summer, the team faced a major obstacle when the foundation works had to be suspended due to a technical problem involving an unexpected uplift of a nearby metro tunnel. This was a critical moment for the team, who had to work together and quickly find concrete solutions to get the project back on track and keep the client’s trust. Through daily meetings and an intense company-wide mobilisation, the team was able to demonstrate its expertise and commitment to the project, reassuring the client and providing a satisfactory response.

This unexpected event highlights the strength of BESIX as a group and how efficiency can be achieved by sticking together, even in adversity. The team stayed together and helped each other to meet the challenge, showing the importance of a united front to carry out an ambitious project like Triangle.

We invite you to watch this video, presenting this project and demonstrating the strength of BESIX as a group. Unity and co-creation are key values in our company, essential to meet challenges - as Véronique, Koen, Hans and Thomas prove.

Warm congratulations to all colleagues involved from near and far in solving this challenge.
