Dear colleagues,
As BESIX Construction continues to evolve, we remain committed to adapting to market dynamics, supporting our people, and managing risks and opportunities responsibly.
Over the past few years, the Business Unit Middle East has expanded across multiple countries (UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman), while the Business Unit International has focused on Africa, often collaborating closely with the Middle East team on staffing and equipment for projects such as Mozambique. This close partnership has brought clear benefits in terms of people, equipment, business models, and risk management.
To build on this success, the Business Units International and Middle East are joining forces to become a single operational unit, Business Unit Middle East-Africa. This new structure will be managed by a unified leadership team based in our Dubai headquarters.
Why are we making this change?
- Both units serve similar types of clients;
- Both units have comparable supply chain and equipment needs;
- Both units rely on the mobility of our international colleagues;
- Both units manage high-risk projects, where sharing lessons learned and best practices is crucial for success.
By bringing these teams together, we can strengthen support for our projects in Africa and the Middle East, and achieve greater efficiency and impact.
What does this mean for you?
- There are no plans for job reductions as a result of this change;
- A number of roles currently based in Belgium may be geographically reallocated. The organisation of the new Business Unit is still being finalised, and we will discuss options and opportunities individually with those affected;
- Some colleagues may see changes in their reporting lines;
- For now, our ways of working, people management policies, and ongoing projects remain unchanged.
We understand that change can bring uncertainty; the leadership teams are here to accompany you throughout this transition. As we finalise the details, we will keep you informed and make sure everyone understands any potential impacts. If you have questions or concerns in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact your Business Unit or Department head.
How is this impacting our business development?
To concentrate our efforts and resources, we have decided to no longer pursue business prospects in LATAM, except under strict conditions. This will allow us to control our risks and to focus where we can have the greatest impact.
What is the timeline of this change?
Members of the Operational Committee of BESIX Construction, together with the heads of Business Enablers, are currently finalising the detailed organisation plan, with the aim of starting the transition in early 2026. The objective is to achieve operational integration by the end of 2026 and complete financial integration by the start of 2027.
This is a significant step for BESIX Construction, positioning us for continued success on the international stage.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and professionalism. Your support and engagement are key to making this transition a success.
