BESIX Watpac: changes in the organization as from 29 November 2021

We are pleased to announce that Jean-Pol Bouharmont, CEO of BESIX Watpac, has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of BESIX Watpac. Jean-Pol succeeds Rik Vandenberghe, who is stepping down from the role effective 29 November 2021. Mark Baker, CFO of BESIX Watpac, succeeds Jean-Pol as CEO of BESIX Watpac.

Jean-Pol is a construction industry leader with more than 30 years of global experience. Under his leadership, BESIX Watpac has solidified its presence while offering clients all the advantages of BESIX’s extensive engineering-led capabilities. Jean-Pol was previously a senior executive for BESIX in the Middle East for two decades, where he delivered significant achievements in innovative and iconic projects. As Executive Chairman, Jean-Pol will remain instrumental to implementing the global strategy in Australia reinforcing the engineering-led multi-disciplinary evolution, while also taking further responsibility within BESIX Group.

Mark joined the company in 2010 and has held the position of CFO and Company Secretary since 2011. He has been a driving force behind the strategy development and implementation of the BESIX Watpac business plan to unlock new opportunities. During the last 20 years, Mark has developed significant financial and operational experience across a broad range of industries, with over half of this focused on property and construction projects. Mark has been actively and successfully supporting Jean-Pol on the evolution of BESIX Watpac during the last two years.

Peter Bergin, Group Financial Controller, succeeds Mark as CFO of BESIX Watpac. Peter has over 20 years of financial and accounting experience. Prior to joining the company, he held various senior finance roles both in Australia and the UK. Peter has been with BESIX Watpac for over 10 years.

We are also pleased to announce that the team will also soon be supported by a new COO, reporting to Mark. A candidate has been identified and is anticipated to commence in the new role early 2022.

The renewed structure includes a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the contracting industry, both at strategy and execution levels.
