On 22 August 2024, South Australia’s first hotel operated by luxury chain Marriott International opened its doors in Adelaide, Australia. This also marks the successful completion of this high-profile project by BESIX Watpac, which was responsible for the design and build on behalf of Greaton.
Situated in a prime location within Adelaide's central business district, the Adelaide Marriott Hotel features 285 rooms, a presidential suite, a club lounge, restaurants and bars, a swimming pool and fitness centre, and function rooms. Paul Gallop, the hotel’s General Manager, highlights the hotel's role as a gateway for exploring Adelaide: “From premier cultural, sporting, culinary, and business events, to exploring world-renowned wine regions, Adelaide is booming. We are excited to open this milestone hotel, the first Marriott Hotel in South Australia, and look forward to welcoming our guests to experience our heartfelt service and wonderful hospitality”.

The hotel is located within the historic General Post Office (GPO) building, a heritage-listed landmark constructed in the 1850s, and seamlessly blends the Adelaide’s rich heritage with contemporary design principles. Months of meticulous planning and work ensured the preservation of the historic building while constructing the new 14-story luxury hotel.
