Besix Watpac blows its 40 candles!

In 2023, BESIX Watpac will celebrate four decades in the construction industry. From humble beginnings, the company has grown into a leading builder in Australia and New Zealand.

Over the years, BESIX Watpac has dedicated itself to providing innovative and sustainable building solutions to its customers.  Their many years of successful projects have earned them an enviable reputation in the construction industry.

Did you know that :

  • BESIX Watpac was originally formed as Watkins Pacific, named after one of its investors and founder Gregory Douglas Watkins;
  • Our Australian colleagues have extensive expertise in the field of stadiums and sports facilities. Our Australian colleagues have extensive expertise in the field of stadiums and sports facilities, having built the 11,000-seat Brisbane Entertainment Center in 1984. This multi-purpose complex has long been ranked the world's number one stadium in the 10,000-15,000 seat category. They also built the East Stand at Ballymore Stadium, taking the iconic stadium from 18,000 to 24,000 seats. Today, BESIX Watpac continues its long line of stadiums and is building the 25,000 seat Canterbury Multi-Use Arena in Christchurch, New Zealand;
  • Watpac's 'signature' is visible throughout the heart of Brisbane's business district. Since the 1990s, Watpac has been involved in a number of developments and renovations in the capital city. Admiralty Towers, Jubilee Place, George Street, and now the stunning Kangaroo Point Green Bridge are just some of the famous Watpac buildings in Brisbane.

As BESIX Watpac celebrates its 40th anniversary, it is demonstrating its excellence and can look to the future with confidence as it continues to offer superior building solutions to its customers while minimising its environmental impact.
