Matexi Group, a major real estate developer in Belgium, has awarded BESIX and its subsidiary Wust the construction of four buildings of the Paradis Express, in Liège (Belgium).

Paradis Express is a new eco-neighbourhood in Liège, strategically located within walking distance of numerous public transport facilities, including Liège-Guillemins station, one of the four hubs of the Belgian high-speed train network. The building project has already won several awards and received top environmental certifications during the design phase.

The four buildings awarded to BESIX and Wust will comprise 115 appartments, commercial areas and a crèche. In addition, they offer schools, restaurants and leisure facilities in their immediate surroundings. The four buildings will be constructed on a slab previously built by BESIX. The company is already present on the site, where it is constructing three other buildings for Matexi's partner Befimmo.

The elegant architecture of the eco-district, designed by A2M, Greish and Jaspers-Eyers Architects, has been conceived to allow a smooth transition between the Finance Tower and the Liège-Guillemins station, designed by Santiago Calatrava. This approach is reflected in the choice of different heights for the buildings, and for several of them, inclined facades.

Patrick Delperdange - Director BESIX Wallonia-Luxembourg: “The Paradis Express eco-district is a splendid real estate development, ideally situated in the heart of the city of Liège. BESIX was already constructing three buildings there for Befimmo. We are extremely grateful for the trust Matexi has placed in us by choosing us to build four additional buildings. Our client can count on the expertise of our BESIX and Wust teams, their complementarity and their perfect knowledge of the site to deliver the excellence promised.”

Works will start at the end of 2021 for delivery at the end of 2023.
