At BESIX Foundation, we currently oversee the social economy projects mentioned below, and we're open to collaborating with new initiatives in this domain. Donatienne de Spirlet, Executive Officer at BESIX Foundation, shared more on this with us.
BESIX Foundation is currently supporting these social economy projects:
- 'Racynes' in Liège, Belgium, which focuses on social action, youth, education, housing, and combating poverty.
- 'Christophorusgemeenschap' in West Flanders, offering workshops in woodworking, sewing, and cooking, assisting disabled individuals to integrate into society.
- The Farilu bakery in Brussels, emphasising inclusivity.
- Ecoplast Innov in Ivory Coast, which transforms used plastic into construction materials.
Why social economy projects?
BESIX Foundation is centered around addressing societal, communal, and environmental concerns. We're dedicated to creating long-lasting, positive changes, covering areas like poverty, unemployment, sustainability, education, and integration. Social economy projects are particularly appealing as they both boost the economy and promote sustainable societal development.
One of the primary objectives of social economy projects is to empower marginalised or disadvantaged groups, actively involving them in economic activities and socio-professional integration. This empowerment contributes to the creation of stronger and more inclusive communities. This is totally in line with the Foundation’s mission.
What projects is BESIX Foundation looking for?
We're interested in projects tied to education, construction, and the environment, especially those focusing on areas like professional reintegration and waste recycling. Proposals from any sector, be it construction, HoReCa, or the food industry, are welcome, as long as they align with our themes and are based in countries where BESIX operates.
Selection and evaluation of projects
Each year, BESIX Foundation receives a budget for these projects. They are carefully chosen by a committee of group representatives using well-defined criteria. Presently, we support 20 projects, including the social economy initiatives mentioned above, across Belgium, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and the Netherlands. In the past 13 years, we've aided a remarkable 370 projects!
If you're involved with or know an organisation focused on social economy projects in a country where BESIX is present, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out to Donatienne at info@besixfoundation.com. Together, let's foster positive change and leave an enduring mark on society.
