Excellent news: BESIX Construction and BESIX Environment successfully completed its latest external surveillance audit, carried out by SGS, the independent third-party certification body responsible for assessing our ISO compliance.
The audit confirmed that BESIX Construction (excl. BESIX Watpac, out of scope) and BESIX Environment remains compliant with ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Health & Safety Management) and VCA certifications. This third-year surveillance audit is the final step before the next recertification cycle in 2027.
Strong audit results across our projects and offices
Over several months, SGS auditors reviewed a broad range of our activities. They visited projects in Belgium, the Netherlands, Latvia, Oman and the UAE, and also assessed key processes at our Brussels and Dubai offices. The audited projects included the Wellness Centre in the UAE, Sohar Jetty in Oman, Riga Central Station in Latvia, UCB Arkelia in Braine-L’Alleud, R4WO in Ghent, our rebar factory and equipment plants in St-Pieters-Leeuw, and A27 Noord Houten in the Netherlands.

The strong result reflects the valuable contribution of many teams across our organisation. All six non-conformities identified in the previous audit cycle were successfully closed, while only three new minor non-conformities were raised. SGS auditors also highlighted several strengths, including our solid QHSE culture, the positive impact of the BE SAFE programme, progress in CO₂ performance management, the implementation of Terra/Blue Sky, and the competence and constructive attitude shown by colleagues throughout the audit process.
Pimmie Aendenboom, QHSE Manager at BESIX, also highlighted the importance of the achievement: "This positive audit gives us a strong foundation as we prepare for the next major milestone: the recertification audits in 2027, which will coincide with the full deployment of Terra and the implementation of new requirements introduced in the updated ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026 standards."
