BESIX has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to build the Core & Shell of a hyperscale data centre in the province of Hainaut in Belgium. This project is designed to support the increasing digital demands in fast-track delivery.
The new facility will feature a multi-storey building including several key functional areas with extensive external features including trestles and underground utilities. This setup will ensure optimal functionality and efficiency of the data centre.
As part of the contract, BESIX is tasked with the construction of all civil, structural, and architectural envelope components of the data centre, including roofing and cladding.
Data centres are integral to modern digital infrastructure, requiring sophisticated design and construction techniques. The construction of the facility is a very fast-track project with high HSE and quality standards. A significant staff team and manpower crews are being mobilised to ensure its successful execution. BESIX's expertise in complex infrastructure projects, demonstrated by its track record in successfully delivering several high-profile data centres in Belgium and Australia, is instrumental for this new data centre project.
"We are immensely proud to undertake the construction of this state-of-the-art data centre, which will play a crucial role in meeting the expanding digital needs of our communities," said Mark Beyst, General Manager BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg. "Our commitment to delivering technologically advanced infrastructure is reinforced by our collaborative approach with partners and clients and our reliance on the experience of our teams to bring such crucial projects to fruition."
This project not only highlights BESIX's capabilities in handling complex and fast infrastructural projects but also underscores its role in supporting the digital economy's expansion in Europe and beyond.
