Week of 7 November
1. Breath-taking images from Atlantis The Royal (Dubai, UAE)
The highly-anticipated hotel Atlantis The Royal, proudly built by our colleagues of BESIX in the Middle East, has partnered with DJ Tiësto to release a new song. Electronic Dance Music icon Tiësto, a.k.a. ‘the Greatest DJ of All Time’, worked with fellow artist Tate McRae to create a music track to capture the “essence, energy and electricity” of Atlantis The Royal. See the result below!
The 43-storey cantilevered resort will feature 231 luxury apartments, 693 hotel rooms and 102 suites, all of which offer views of the Arabian Sea and Palm Island. The resort will also house 90 swimming pools, including a rooftop infinity pool on the 22nd floor, suspended 90 meters above ground level. Opening date in January 2023. Congrats to all colleagues, this is a breath-taking result!
2. BESIX Prize at Liège University (Belgium)
Last week, Vincent Berger, Business Development Manager at BESIX Belgium, handed over the BESIX Prize at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Liège University (Belgium) to Tom Renotte, a young graduated student, for his thesis on "Optimisation of the installation of transverse stiffeners in the design of welded beams from a technical and economic point of view". The BESIX Prize is awarded once a year to a Civil Engineering laureate at Liège University whose thesis makes an outstanding contribution to the construction sector.
3. 4 years of intense team work summarised in 30 sec! (France)
The Neuilly-Sur-Seine hospital complex is one of the largest in the eponymous Paris suburb. The construction site, however, was far from large as it lies in the middle of a very densely populated urban area. Our BESIX colleagues have put all their expertise to work to deliver a top-notch facility this summer. A challenging puzzle where safety, flexibility and an unusual building method were key building blocks for success. Have a look at the time-lapse below and join us to congratulate all involved colleagues!
4. Double awards for BESIX Watpac (Australia)
Congratulations to our colleagues on the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Stage 2 Redevelopment project and Adelaide Airport Terminal Expansion project for receiving awards for infrastructure and commercial respectively at the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) National Awards last week.
