Week of 4 November

1. Progress shows in Copenhagen (Denmark)

In Copenhagen (Denmark), BESIX and MT Højgaard are building the Nordhavn Tunnel, a 1.4-kilometre-long cut-and-cover road tunnel that goes underwater for 700 metres. After facing challenges with the groundwater lowering system recently, excavation work is now progressing at full speed again. The team has reached a depth of 6-7 metres out of a total of 14 metres and is currently installing and testing the wall anchors. Keep up the good work!

2. BESIX’s Material Service department buys its first e-car (Belgium)

Have you spotted our Materiel Service's new addition on the road yet? It’s the new (and first) electric maintenance car bought by our team at the Material Service site in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. This marks a significant step towards electrifying our fleet and reducing our company's carbon footprint overall.

3. Artistic touch at Triangle project (France)

In Paris (France), the site fencing of the Triangle project has undergone a colourful transformation recently. Artist Tim Zdey turned the over 200 meters of fencing into a fresco named ‘Vedute Ideate’. By incorporating different perspectives and edges of the Triangle’s architectural design, Tim aimed to extend the visual boundaries of the site and provide passers-by with a lively and vibrant view of the impressive tower. Remarkable!

4. Celebrating bright young minds with a BESIX thesis awards (Belgium)

A few weeks ago, representatives of top companies in Belgium, among which BESIX, handed out master's thesis awards to graduates from the universities of Liège and Ghent who have written an excellent thesis in these companies’ sectors. In Liège, Vincent Berger, our Business Development Manager for Wallonia , had the honour to award the BESIX prize to Quentin Halbach and Maxime Tychon for their master’s theses in respectively electronical and structural engineering. And in Ghent, Liesbeth Kempeneers, People Manager at BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg, handed over the prize to Ruben Van den Bossche for his work about an innovative façade system comprising masonry and bio-based insulation. Congratulations to these talented young engineers!

And then this… Raising awareness for breast cancer in Gabon

Last month was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which aims to promote screening and prevention of the breast cancer, a disease which affects millions of men and women worldwide. Our team in Gabon, which is building several bridges and footbridges, also took a moment to reflect on and raise awareness of this important topic.
