Dear colleagues,
On 14 September, we will welcome Valérie Nerinckx to BESIX Group as our Group Head of People.
Valérie will take over the responsibilities held by Geert Aelbrecht, who has been leading BESIX Affiliates since 1 April 2026.
As Group Head of People, Valérie will oversee the full scope of the People Department, including talent sourcing and acquisition, learning and development, leadership and career development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and People business partnering. She will report directly to Pierre Sironval, CEO BESIX Group, and will participate in Executive Committee discussions on people-related matters. A key focus of her mandate will be to further strengthen the strategic people agenda of the Group, ensuring that our people priorities continue to support BESIX’ business ambitions, organisational performance and long-term development. In close partnership with the People teams across our entities and business lines, she will help foster collaboration, leverage expertise across the Group and support the delivery of impactful Group-wide people initiatives.
Valérie brings more than 25 years of experience in human resources, acquired in both international industrial groups and technology companies. Most recently, she served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Materialise. Prior to that, she spent seven years as Group Human Resources Director at SMT Holding, where she was responsible for shaping and implementing the company's people strategy across countries and business entities. Earlier in her career, Valérie held several senior HR leadership roles within Fiat Industrial Group. In these roles, she supported large and complex organisations through periods of transformation, organisational change and business growth.
She holds a Master's degree in Labour Sciences from Université Catholique de Louvain and Warwick Business School, as well as a Master's degree in Applied Economics from KU Leuven.
To ensure a smooth transition, Valérie and Geert will work closely together during the handover period. This will provide continuity for the ongoing priorities of the People Department and allow Valérie to become familiar with the organisation, its teams and its key challenges.
