Week of 28 August
1. Steady progress on A16 De Groene Boog (The Netherlands)
The 400-metre-long flyover above the Terbregseplein as part of the new energy-neutral A16 Rotterdam, is taking shape. While Deck A has been fully realised, Deck B is making steady progress. After finishing pushing the 7th of 17 segments last week, it's now all hands on deck for the 8th segment. Implementing the Incremental Launching Method, the impressive structure is pushed across the Terbregseplein segment by segment, crossing several important traffic axes. Way to go, A16 team!
A significant momentum took place last week with the installation of 10 concrete beams, each weighing 100 tons and measuring 30 by 1.3 metres, using 2 mobile cranes. Watch this remarkable operation in this timelapse.
2. Vanhout blows 95 candles (Belgium)
On 13 August, Vanhout celebrated its 95th anniversary. For this occasion, an original decorative fresco with a balloon was created by Vanhout colleague Eline Debacker, assistant project manager on the AP Hogeschool project. Below you can see a group photo taken in front of this creation at the Vanhout premises. In five years’ time, Vanhout will celebrate an even more important milestone: their centennial! A big congratulations to our Vanhout colleagues for their anniversary, and up to 100 candles!
3. ROCO.be now online (Belgium)
Great news! The brand-new ROCO website is now officially online. Not only does this portal give you a fascinating insight into the transformation of Antwerp, but it also highlights the various steps of one of the two major worksites of the Oosterweel project.
Visit the website and stay tuned for all the exciting news about the building site of the century! Follow the site also on LinkedIn and Instagram for the latest news and to share their job openings with your network!
Congrats ROCO team!
In 2021, Lantis awarded the contract for the construction of the Right Bank sub-project of Oosterweel to the ‘Tijdelijke Maatschap Rechteroever Compleet’ (Temporary Partnership Right Bank Complete), abbreviated to TM ROCO. The Right Bank sub-project is of a size and complexity never seen before in Flanders. The Right Bank sub-project, via the Oosterweel intersection, forms the link between the Scheldt tunnel and the R1, both in the Northern and Eastern directions.
4. Latest news from Paris (France)
During their recent visit to Paris, our CEO Pierre Sironval and Jan Van Steirteghem, General Manager BU Europe, were able to witness progress on our two major projects in the French capital.
As the construction of the Saint-Denis Pleyel station progresses, the beautiful façade begins to emerge. Thanks to their incredible team spirit and can-do mentality, our teams in Paris are running a marathon... but at the speed of a sprint, to realise this major part of the Grand Paris Express network, which needs to be completed in time for the Summer Olympic Games of 2024.
The Triangle Tower is also in full swing. As activity increases, the challenge remains colossal. Fortunately, the determination of our colleagues at BESIX Paris far exceeds the scale of the difficulties. Congratulations, Paris teams, for the good spirit!
And then this… Family first!
On 20 August, Socogetra teams gathered for their annual Family Day. The event took place in the beautiful setting of Lavaux-Saint-Anne Castle, in the South of Belgium, which was transformed for the occasion into a 'Fancy Village' evoking the atmosphere of traditional fairs. During this day, 550 people came together to engage in activities and share unforgettable moments with their families.
