Week of 22 January

1. 5-year anniversary for Mabilux and LuxTP (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg)

On 15 January 2024, Mabilux and LuxTP celebrated the 5th anniversary of their collaboration, further to the acquisition by BESIX of a shareholding in Mabilux SA in 2019. Thanks to this partnership, the two companies have since been able to take on new sorts of projects. Clients can enjoy the winning combination of construction works being done by LuxTP, while Mabilux takes care of the design, manufacturing, and assembly of metal structures for industrial and commercial buildings in a one-stop shop setting. Congratulations to the birthday teams!

2. Tower crane stands at Meadow (Belgium)

Last week, Vanhout installed a gigantic tower crane for the new phase of BESIX RED’s Meadow project in Herent, 3 kms from Leuven. This new and last phase foresees the construction of 40 apartments, commercial space, and underground parking. We send you full good vibes for this new phase, Vanhout and BESIX RED teams!

3. Shared risks at PPP Zayed City Schools (UAE)

In the video below you can listen to our colleague Mohamed Badr El Din, General Manager BESIX Plenary Education Properties Development LLC, who is the lead of our Zayed City Schools PPP project, talk about how PPP projects benefit the private sector. He stresses the fact that a PPP offers both partners, private and public, a long-term relationship in which they share the risks and therefore enjoy a totally different risk profile for the project. It also offers the sector an opportunity to diversify their portfolio. The Zayed City Schools project in Abu Dhabi is the United Arab Emirates’ largest PPP project in education.

4. Nordhavn project at full speed (Denmark)

Maritime works (demolition, dredging, and construction of the working platform) were completed before Christmas. Meanwhile, civil works (secant piling, sheet piling, grout injections, and anchoring) are progressing in full swing at three locations. The concrete is being tested (fire resistance tests, casting of mock-ups...) so that the team is ready to start structural work by June. Finally, the teams are submitting the final design packages to the client by the end of February. Keep up the speed, team Nordhavn, you are doing a great job!

And then this: BESIX Group New Year Party (Belgium)

Last Friday the BESIX Group New Year Party took place in a winter wonderland setting. A chance to catch up with former colleagues or to meet new team members. Thank you to the 900 colleagues who made this party a great success!
