Dear colleagues,

Open Sites Day is back this year on Sunday 26 May 2024. Visitors can get a glimpse of the construction industry and discover the extensive expertise of the Belgian construction sector showcased in particular by the BESIX Group building sites that are open that day.

We are delighted to invite you, your family, and friends to visit one or more of our participating projects on this day. Our site teams will be pleased to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.

You don’t have to register, just show up at the site(s) of your choice (see opening hours below). You can find additional information to plan your visit on the website of Open Sites Day (in French or Dutch). We recommend you wear sturdy footwear for your visit.

Here are the BESIX sites you will be able to visit on 26 May 2024:

  • COTU (a consortium between BESIX, DEME, Stadsbader Contractors, and Jan De Nul) opens the doors to the construction pit in Zeebrugge, which is part of the Oosterweel Link project. In Zeebrugge, a large construction dock has been excavated, where eight tunnel elements, each 160 meters long, are being built. Once the tunnel elements are completed, they will be floated and towed via the North Sea and the Scheldt to Antwerp. More information about the visit can be found here. Visits from 10 AM to 4.15 PM. The visit takes about an hour. Address: Koffieweg 8380, 8380 Brugge.
  • You will also be able to visit the project Scheldt tunnel in Antwerp as part of the same Oosterweel Link project. The Scheldt Tunnel in Antwerp will connect the left and right banks for motorised and bicycle traffic. On the Left Bank in Antwerp, we are constructing the entrance to the tunnel under the Scheldt. In the construction pit, 25 meters underground, the first part of the tunnel is being built, to which the tunnel elements will later be submerged. More information about the visit can be found here. Visits from 10 AM to 4.15 PM. The visit takes about an hour. Address: Charles de Costerlaan 500, 2050 Antwerp.
  • Subsidiary Vanhout opens the doors of the Lago Bredene Grasduinen swimming pool site. This will be the first completely CO2-neutral swimming pool in our country. The geothermal drilling reaching depths of up to 1,250 meters is unprecedented for our country. More information about the visit can be found here. Visits from 10 AM to 5 PM. Address: Duinenstraat 146-148, 8450 Bredene.
  • Vanhout’s subsidiary CIRCL will show you their flexible, sustainable, and circular building concept with one of their houses in Nijlen. More information about the visit can be found here. Visits from 10 AM to 5 PM. There is a tour every 15 minutes. Address: Bovenstraat 39, 2560 Nijlen.
  • In Visé, our subsidiary Socogetra opens the doors of the water treatment station. This new facility is designed to process the wastewater of the city of Visé, with a capacity of 9,300 population equivalents. More information about the visit can be found here. Visits from 10 AM to 4 PM. Address: Quai des Fermettes SN, 4600 Visé.
