Week of 16 September
1. Dizzying views from the Mohammed VI Tower (Morocco)
In Rabat (Morocco), works on the Mohammed VI Tower are in their final stage with the finishing works on the tower base and interior works well underway. The impressive tower is no less than 250 metre high and offers breathtaking views over the city and coastline... And dizzying views when looking down!
Designed to be visible from 50 kilometres away, the high rise consists of a tower set on a podium to resemble a rocket on its launch pad. It meets the highest environmental standards with LEED Gold and HQE certifications and features numerous innovations developed by our Engineering department.
2. Safety walk with BESIX NL and BESIX Infra Nederland (the Netherlands)
In the Dutch province of Limburg, BESIX Nederland and BESIX Infra Nederland are responsible for highway maintenance for four years, in collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat. Recently, a major maintenance weekend was planned at the Zaaderheiken interchange , where the teams replaced around 6,000 tonnes of asphalt! In addition, they organised a Safety Walk during which they reviewed their safety practices and discussed the various measures they take to manage safety risks on-site.
3. BESIX Infra teams praised as examples in safety (Belgium)
Every quarter, Aquafin, who manages sewage infrastructure in Flanders (Belgium), selects a handful of sites as safety examples. For the second quarter of this year, two BESIX Infra sites, in the cities of Borgloon and Voeren, were among the seven projects in Flanders to be recognised! Specifically, our teams working in Borgloon and Voeren were praised for their exceptional safety performance. To commemorate this achievement, Aquafin rewarded the teams with a well-earned on-site lunch. Congratulations to the BESIX Infra teams on this remarkable accomplishment!
4. A look inside Zayed National Museum’s wing towers (UAE)
In Abu Dhabi, BESIX Middle East is constructing the Zayed National Museum, which will pay tribute to the life and legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates. As the museum continues to take shape, its final design is becoming more visible. And it’s not just the exterior that's impressive—the views from inside the museum are equally stunning. In the pictures below, you can see the view inside one of the glass atriums that evoke the wing tips of the falcon, a national symbol and emblem of Emirati heritage. Keep up the good work!
And then this… Another successful evening of helping the homeless in Brussels with Operation Thermos!
Each year, BESIX Foundation volunteers join Operation Thermos to prepare and serve hot meals to the homeless in Brussels during the colder months. Two weeks ago, a dozen motivated BESIX colleagues gathered in the kitchen of our headquarters in Brussels for this initiative and distributed meals to 83 people. Thank you to all the participants!
