Week of 6 July
1. Heavy lifting, precise operations at the Hyoffwind site (Belgium)
Moving a 30-tonne installation through a narrow passage... It sounds like a logistical puzzle, and it was exactly that. At the Hyoffwind site in Zeebrugge, we reached a major milestone with the installation of the plant’s final high-pressure compressor. This essential component, the last piece of equipment to be delivered, will compress hydrogen to nearly 600 bar before it is transported by truck to the filling station.
The operation perfectly illustrates how technical innovation meets hands-on execution on site. Alongside the installation of the electrolyser stacks, the project is paving the way for large-scale green hydrogen production powered by Zeebrugge’s offshore wind energy. With a 25 MW capacity and an expected output of 3,700 tonnes of hydrogen per year, Hyoffwind represents a significant step towards a low-carbon future.
2. Five roles in eight days, stepping out of the comfort zone (Australia)
What does it take to keep a rail project on track? Sometimes, it means stepping into roles you never expected. At BESIX Watpac, site engineer Aakansha Jain recently did exactly that taking on multiple responsibilities during a training of just eight days, from estimator and programmer to project manager, leading hand and quality control manager.
The experience pushed her to think fast, communicate clearly under pressure and adapt to constantly changing situations on site.
Aakansha: “This reminds me that the best learning happens outside your comfort zone. Thank you to my colleagues for giving me the opportunity to take part in the Constructionarium Australia workshop and strengthen my skills. And a special kudos to my colleague Raquel Di Francesco! We’re really making a great team, delivering another project together with a happy client.”
3. The next note takes shape at the Philharmonie site (Grand Dutchy of Luxembourg)
The skyline in Kirchberg is evolving and a familiar story continues. At the Philharmonie Luxembourg extension site, the structure is steadily rising, with new columns emerging week after week and the building’s future silhouette emerging from the ground.
Over 20 years after contributing to the original Philharmonie, our LuxTP teams are once again leaving their mark on one of Luxembourg’s most iconic locations. A rare continuation of craftsmanship, bridging past and present on the same ground. As the extension takes shape, it reflects both technical expertise and a long-standing connection to the project. A special milestone for those involved.
4. Making it home safe (Belgium)
“Safety is not just about rules. It’s about people who want to return home safely every day.” With that mindset, our colleagues at Vanhout brought safety to life during a Safety Event on the unique Campus Corda in Hasselt. Around 80 construction professionals attended, and more than 32 subcontractors explicitly committed by signing a shared Code of Conduct.
One standout moment? A Brain-Based Safety session, where participants discovered in an accessible way how behaviour, habits and decision-making directly impact safety on site. On a complex project where dozens of companies work side by side every day, that awareness makes all the difference.
With this commitment, our teams are not only building the Corda Campus, but also a culture where everyone takes responsibility. Because safety remains our priority: it only truly matters when everyone can turn their front door key at home, safe and well at the end of the day.
And then this... A fresh place to work in Dubai
A fresh start in a newly refurbished space. In Dubai, our colleagues are settling into a modern office designed for everyday work and collaboration. A warm welcome to all colleagues moving into this refreshed workspace. May it quickly feel like home and a source of inspiration for the projects ahead.
