Week of 30 September
1. Safety first at Zayed National Museum (UAE)
The HSE team of the Zayed National Museum project in Abu Dhabi (UAE) recently held a safety training on-site, during which a fire scenario was simulated, providing hands-on experience. By preparing for potential emergencies through realistic simulations, we equip our teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle real-life situations effectively and efficiently. Well done, team HSE and Zayed National Museum!
2. BESIX Unitec Nederland successfully modernises train station (the Netherlands)
In the south of The Hague (the Netherlands), BESIX Unitec Nederland has successfully completed the modernisation of the train station Rijswijk. As one of the least automated train stations in the Netherlands, it was in urgent need of an upgrade. In less than a year - and well within the planned schedule - the teams have installed a new tunnel control system, expanded and updated the fire alarm system and implemented a new alarm and evacuation system. In addition, they transformed an old retail space above the station into a technical space. Congratulations, team BESIX Unitec Nederland!
3. Progress shows in Lustica Bay (Montenegro)
In Montenegro, BESIX is building Luštica Bay, a lively new resort town set on a hillside with stunning coastal views. The pictures below show both the finished sections of the marina village and the areas our teams are still working on. Recently, despite an approaching storm, the team also participated in BESIX CleanUp Day to collect waste in their surroundings. Great job, team Montenegro!
4. F Tower standing tall in Abidjan (Ivory Coast)
In Abidjan, BESIX is involved in building the F Tower, overseeing project management and civil works. With a height of almost 400 metres, the tower is set to be the tallest one in Africa. Ever since construction began in 2021, the tower has been gradually changing the city’s skyline, as you can see in the pictures below. Keep up the good work, colleagues!
And then this… Sluishuis on the cover of Lonely Planet guide
Lonely Planet made an excellent choice for the cover photo of their new pocket edition of the Amsterdam guide. They selected a stunning picture of Sluishuis, a BESIX RED residential development completed by BESIX NL in 2022. The building stands out because of the double cantilever over the water of Lake IJ and includes 442 energy-neutral apartments and various mooring options for pleasure boats.
