BESIX Group subsidiary Wust and its partner Serbi (Gehlen Group) have delivered a new grandstand for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, which hosts the annual Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The 4,555-seat grandstand is installed at the top of the famous Raidillon, a steep 17% climb to a series of corners with a blind summit, which the Formula 1 cars tackle at 300 km/h and which demands immense technical skill from the drivers.
The grandstand was built during the winter of 2021-2022, with an extremely short construction time of seven months. Bodarwé, in association with Wust and Serby, was responsible for the upgrading of the track and its surroundings.
The grandstand was inaugurated in May by officials from the Walloon Region, the French Community of Belgium and the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
This is not the first time that Wust has carried out work at Spa-Francorchamps. Fifteen years ago, for example, the company participated in the construction of the new paddock and a new grandstand, as well as in the adaptation of the circuit to new safety regulations.
