We are delighted to announce that Patrick Baeten will join us as Secretary-General as from 3 July 2023. We are confident that his vast experience, strategic insight, and dynamic leadership will bring great value to our organisation.
Patrick Baeten (55 years), has a Law degree from the Rijksuniversiteit Gent, a post-graduate degree in international and European law, as well as a Master of Laws degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain.
He has built up a significant experience in the legal and regulatory fields since 1996 with companies like Tractebel, GDF Suez and ENGIE where he is currently holding office as Chief Legal Officer Mergers & Acquisitions, Risks and Corporate. Throughout his career so far, Patrick has shown a keen ability to identify major legal risks, effectively implement mitigation measures and facilitate high-quality support and guidance to the corporations he worked for.
In his role as Secretary-General at BESIX Group, Patrick will be a member of the BESIX Group Executive Committee and report to Pierre Sironval. As Secretary-General, he will serve as the primary liaison between the Group and its stakeholders, including shareholders and regulatory bodies.
He will also be responsible for developing and implementing policies that align with our strategic objectives and comply with relevant laws and regulations. His strong knowledge in corporate law and regulation, including governance issues, will consistently ensure our organisation operates within the legal framework and upholds its integrity.
Legal oversight of the group activities, as well as the legal review of Mergers & Acquisitions files, will also fall under his responsibility. Marc Duvieusart remains General Counsel and oversees the legal matters within the Contracting activities, from tender to execution, as well as litigation.
