Update - Situation in the Middle East (Tue 17 Mar)

Group 1 min read

Dear colleagues,

As we reach another week in a situation that remains tense in the Middle East, we wanted to share a brief update.

The regional context remains complex. While there is no clear turning point in sight, the situation has become more stable tactically, even if it continues to require close attention. Attacks on infrastructure across the region are ongoing, but there are no incidents to report involving our people.

Our colleagues are safe, and our sites remain calm and closely monitored.

From an operational perspective, most activities continue as planned. Following recent developments in Oman, we have decided to suspend operations at Sohar Port as a precaution. Discussions with the client are ongoing, and information is exchanged with authorities and other contractors on site. Elsewhere, operations continue under heightened vigilance.

We are conscious that, beyond immediate safety, the human impact of a prolonged situation is starting to be felt. While morale remains generally good, some signs of fatigue are natural. Managers and People teams remain attentive, and support mechanisms are in place. Updated crisis guidelines and amended leave policies continue to provide flexibility where possible.

At Group level, we continue to monitor developments closely and to review contingency and preparedness measures, with particular attention to areas where risks are assessed to be higher.

Despite the strain of the past weeks, one thing remains clear: our people are looking out for one another, and the sense of solidarity across teams and regions continues to be strong. That collective care matters, especially in moments like these. You can see how our colleagues in the region appreciate your support in this short clip.

We will continue to communicate regularly and transparently as the situation evolves.
