Our construction site in Copenhagen welcomes its neighbours

Group 1 min read

Over the summer, our joint venture BESIX-MTH has reached an interesting milestone in Copenhagen: the creation in the marina of the platform for the future construction pit of the Nordhavn Tunnel. In order to realise this huge sandbank, we have pumped approximately 337,136 tons of sand into the waters!

In an inspiring display of community engagement, we have opened up this large sandbank to the neighbourhood last Thursday. It was a one-of-a-kind opportunity for residents to step out onto the sand dune and experience it firsthand. More than 400 visitors came by! They were allowed to enter and walk on the sandbank while enjoying guided tours with our employees who shared insights about the project. Even the Belgian Ambassador gave us a visit!

The Nordhavn Tunnel project is an ambitious undertaking aimed at improving transportation infrastructure in Copenhagen. Once completed, this tunnel will significantly enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the area.

We believe that engaging with our neighbors and involving them in our projects is crucial for fostering a sense of community ownership. By opening up this construction site to local residents, we hope to create transparency and build trust. It also provides an opportunity for people to learn more about the Nordhavn Tunnel project and its positive impact on their daily lives.

At BESIX Group, we are committed to not only delivering exceptional construction projects but also creating meaningful connections with communities around us. We are proud to have welcomed our neighbors and look forward to further collaboration as we continue working towards transforming Copenhagen's infrastructure!
