New SDG objective in your Coaching Journal

Dear colleagues,

All Coaching Journals 2023 in Metrilio will soon be open / are now open to add your objectives and competencies.

This year, for the first time, we call on your input, initiatives and projects related to the Sustainability & ESG ambitions of BESIX Group.
Our planet, our climate, our people, are important to all of us. We contribute to it daily by reducing CO2 emissions, by improving safety on site, or value engineering to reduce material used… and in so many other ways.

To capture what is happening, to highlight your contributions and to inspire each of us, we propose you to select at least one Sustainability objective in your Coaching Journal 2023.

To make it visual and reportable, we have selected the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations in 2015. BESIX Group supports these 17 goals for sustainable development since many years, with a specific focus on 10 SDGs, amongst which SDG 8 (Decent work & Economic growth), SDG 12 (Responsible consumption & production) & SDG 13 (Climate action).

Behind each of the SDGs lies actions each of us can undertake at work, at our own individual level.

For example :

  • You give training to others (SDG 4: Quality education)
  • You actively work on a project that cleans sewage water (SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation)
  • You are a BE SAFE Ambassador (SDG 8: Decent work & economic growth)
  • You find methods to reuse/reduce waste during our job (SDG 12: Responsible consumption & production)
  • Your design needs less energy to be constructed (SDG 12: Responsible consumption & production)
  • You comply with the Code of Conduct (and completed the e-learning!) (SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions)
  • You participate in various professional networks and workgroups in the construction sector (SDG 17: Partnership for the goals)

We are therefore asking you to think about adding at least one SDG objective you will support actively:

  1. This selected SDG should be one of the 10 highlighted by BESIX Group
  2. This selected SDG should be in line with your function and/or project
  3. Describe in your Coaching Journal what action(s) you will take in 2023 in that respect

Have a look at the Sustainability & ESG module on eAcademy, more specifically : 3. ‘Discover the 17 Sustainable Development Goals’.
In the 3rd video on ‘the Good Life Goals’, you may find inspiration to define your Sustainability objective. However, make sure to link the SDG you support to your function/project.

Next step

Halfway through the year, we will take all listed ideas, actions and objectives as an inspiration for all of us on how we can contribute to a better world.
