Let's co-create together

2 min read

Dear colleagues,

I am particularly pleased to have the opportunity to lead the Business Unit Europe. I am also honoured by the trust that our employer, BESIX, has given me.

In recent years, the growth of the Business Unit Europe has been impressive. You made it happen, together with my predecessors. This expansion goes hand in hand with operational challenges that now have to be addressed. Being fully aware of my new responsibilities, I also know that I can count on great colleagues to take this up together, continue the work and reach new heights.

We will achieve this by following BESIX’s purpose: 'Excel in creating sustainable solutions for a better world'.

The core of my strategy relies on you. Above individual skills, it focuses on co-creation; that is, our collective capacity to optimally combine everyone’s creativity, strengths and expertise. I am indeed convinced that co-creation is a working method we can further strengthen at BESIX. It is also the best lever we have at our disposal to create innovative solutions and to excel.

A practical application of co-creation will be achieved through the strengthening of our project management: from business development to the contract execution, each project will be managed by a multi-disciplinary and autonomous team. This implies the active engagement of people from both our business units and support departments at an early stage, as well as their shared responsibility to shape our projects and take the right decisions.

Our daily work should be driven by passion. Each project should have stimulating environment, providing the most favourable conditions to boost creativity and reach excellence.

I wish us to have fun and to be proud of what we collectively achieve.

We all know that 'Excelling' might be particularly demanding, both professionally and personally. I count on you to find a healthy balance and to organize your work accordingly in order to be resilient. And you can count on me to make this possible.

I’ll visit all construction sites and all departments over the next few months. My primary task will be to listen to and learn from you and to discover your greatest talents.

I look forward to meeting you all and thank you in advance for your support. Never hesitate to reach out to me by phone, email or in person if you have any questions.

I'll see you soon,
Jan Van Steirteghem
