You are about to graduate, and everyone asks the same question: “What’s next?” For many young engineers, the search for an answer starts at the BESIX Young Professional Days.
What began as a recruitment event has become a well-established gateway into the company. Over the past few years, between 25 and 30 young professionals have joined BESIX each year through the initiative. Many are still with us today, growing their careers across the Group.
This year, 123 students came to Brussels to meet recruiters, managers and technical experts. So far, 35 participants have already joined BESIX, while four more are still progressing through the recruitment process.
Internships remain a key entry point
One figure stands out: more than half of this year's starters (51%) previously completed an internship at BESIX. The link between internships and recruitment is clear. Giving students the chance to discover our projects, teams and culture often marks the beginning of a longer journey with us.
The event also reflected the strong ties BESIX maintains with universities across Belgium. Most participants came from ULB-VUB, UCL, ECAM, UGent and KU Leuven.
Opportunities across the Group
The profile of participants continues to broaden. While engineering remains at the heart of the event, this year's edition also attracted candidates with business backgrounds. One participant has already joined BESIX as a Junior Cost Controller.
Affiliates were also well represented. Eleven candidates entered recruitment processes with affiliate companies and three have already been hired.
The event continues to create opportunities beyond Belgium as well. Two participants were recruited directly for international Tender Engineer positions abroad.
An event built on people
The concept has remained largely unchanged over the years: bring students and BESIX colleagues together for a day of interviews and networking. It is a format that continues to deliver results, thanks to the commitment of recruiters, managers, technical experts and the many colleagues who take part each year as ambassadors for BESIX.
