We are surprised by and refute what is being written and said today about our activities in Qatar, especially about the accidents that happened during the construction and renovation of two stadiums.
A fatal accident on one of our construction sites is always one too many. In a high-risk industry like ours, safety is always our priority. As you know, we put in every effort to ensure that our people can work in the best conditions, anywhere in the world, both in terms of working methods and the equipment we provide. This is precisely to avoid such tragedies.
We have always communicated transparently to our employees, partners, customers and authorities about any work-related accidents on our sites, and we continue to do so. After every accident, regardless of the country in which it happens, we take up our responsibility, be it on operational, human or legal level.
Regardless of the country in which we are operating, we follow the same strict procedures after every accident: works are stopped, the accident is investigated, working methods are reviewed and communicated to the personnel present. This is the only way we can learn the right lessons.
The comments made suggest that this is not the case and that we do not take responsibility. We completely reject this approach.
