Dear colleagues,

BESIX Engineering has adapted its Concrete Technology expertise centre. You now have two contact persons, one for the Middle East and one for the European and International business units.

They are available to assist you and help you determine the right concrete solutions on construction sites and for our design projects. We invite you to contact them as of today for any queries and issues in this area.

  • Gontran Herrier is our new Concrete Technologist based in Brussels. He is responsible for concrete solutions for the Europe and International business units.

About Gontran Herrier

Gontran Herrier has over 20 years of experience in the field of construction materials. He has just joined BESIX after 13 years at Lhoist where he was Senior Research Engineer for more than 8 years.
Gontran graduated from the University of Namur where he also obtained a PhD in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science.
We are very pleased to welcome him to BESIX Group and are looking forward to benefiting from his outstanding expertise.

About Eveline Buyens

Eveline Buyens joined BESIX Group in the Middle East in 2019, after three years of experience with Jan de Nul. Since then, many of our colleagues have already benefited from her expertise, as evidenced by her significant contribution to several of our projects in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Eveline graduated from the KU Leuven and holds a Master in Civil Engineering.

About Concrete technologist

Missions of a concrete technologist are (but not limited to) :

  • Audits of local raw material, equipment, for concrete specification, batch and control;
  • Identification of potential partners for technical aspects, from materials identification, to manufacture and control;
  • Concrete mix designs, in accordance with availability of raw materials;
  • Optimisation of existing processes (concrete preparation, mixing, execution, curing…);
  • Technical support on site : concrete setting and hardening, curing, strength, cracks,…;
  • Internal and external trainings;
  • Participation to Technical Committees and Research Working Groups, certification & standardisation activities.
