BESIX, as part of the consortium with MBL and Boskalis, receive contract for first phase of Port of NEOM development

  • BESIX and Boskalis are the first European contractors to be awarded a design and build lump sum contract with NEOM;
  • BESIX, and its local partner MBL, will be responsible for the design and build of more than 3 km of quay walls at the Port of NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

BESIX, in partnership with Modern Building Leaders (MBL) and Boskalis, has been awarded a contract by NEOM for the first phase of the dredging and quay wall development of the Port of NEOM, located in the northwest region of Saudi Arabia.

Located on the Red Sea, near the Suez Canal, the port is the primary seaport of entry to NEOM and is undergoing a transformation to become the world’s most technologically advanced, efficient and sustainable port.

BESIX, together with Boskalis, are the first European contractors to be awarded a design and build lump sum contract with NEOM. The BESIX-MBL joint venture will be responsible for the design and build of more than 3 km of quay walls of variant types.

In line with BESIX’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, BESIX will ensure lowest possible carbon footprint, implement a robust Environmental Management System, utilize innovative construction methodologies and elements, and integrate responsible and sustainable procurement.

The total contract is approaching SAR 3 billion, with BESIX-MBL joint venture covering approximately 50% of the scope.
