On 17 October 2023, the contract for the construction of new and important infrastructure for the Luxembourg Red Cross was awarded to BESIX and Lux TP, in collaboration with CLE Compagnie Luxembourgeoise d'Entreprises. The future building, to be known as the "Maison de la Croix-Rouge", is intended to be a meeting place for all beneficiaries, blood donors, volunteers and employees of the organisation, providing a working and meeting space with room for solidarity and collaboration. This project, developed by IKO Real Estate, is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Infrastructure at the service of well-being

The construction of the “Maison de la Croix-Rouge” is part of the organisation's long-term strategy: it places the well-being of employees, volunteers, blood donors and beneficiaries at the heart of its activities. The new headquarters also aims to centralise the currently dispersed services in a single location in Howald, in the Grand Duchy.

Sober architecture

La Maison will be an urban building with a contemporary design, but without an ostentatious character. Architect ARCHI2000 & Associates specifically opted for this approach. It will be a building of sober architecture, conceived as a gathering place, a refuge where the spaces encourage exchanges and promote rest. The presence of plant elements will bring serenity and a sense of calm.

Commitment to sustainability

In particular, geothermal energy will be used for environmentally friendly heating and cooling systems. La Maison aims to have a minimal impact on its environment by keeping the carbon footprint of its activities as low as possible. To this end, the project will be aligned with the standards of the BREEAM Commercial Excellent certificate. To achieve this objective, BESIX, Lux TP and CLE are focusing in particular on the use of low-carbon concrete. The project is also designed to achieve Well Building Standard Gold certification, which rewards buildings with features that have a positive impact on the health, comfort, productivity and well-being of their occupants.

“BESIX and LUX TP are proud to place their expertise at the service of IKO Real Estate and the Red Cross, a world-renowned organisation founded on solidarity and collaboration. With this project, we are continuing our long experience in Luxembourg. Lux TP, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, and BESIX can look back on previous achievements such as the Icône office complex (Belval), the magnificent Philharmonie and Ferrero's new headquarters, Casa Ferrero. The combined experience of BESIX and Lux TP in achieving ambitious environmental standards for construction projects once again guarantees excellence for this new project.”
