ACTION REQUIRED: set up a new password

2 min read

Dear colleague,

To guarantee your access to the Microsoft environment of BESIX, you have to set up a new password. The password you need to reset is the one that allows you to gain access to your laptop/computer, your Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, as well as any other Microsoft applications of BESIX.

You can reset your password as from now. It is also possible that you are prompted by your laptop or computer to change your password automatically: in this case, follow the steps as from step 3. We recommend you to print this communication so you can refer back to it if this happens.

Follow these steps to change your password:

  1. Make sure you are connected to a BESIX network (in a BESIX office or at a BESIX site). If you’re not working from a BESIX location, make sure you are connected to the VPN. You can check if you are safely connected by double clicking the Check Point Endpoint Security icon in your taskbar (a yellow padlock). If the popup that appears tells you that you are connected to the VPN, you can continue with step 2. If the popup asks you to fill in your password, do it in order to connect with the VPN.
  2. Hold the keys Ctrl, Alt and Delete simultaneously. A selection menu will appear. Click the second to last option ‘Change a password’.
  3. Fill in your current password.
  4. Subsequently, fill in your new password twice.

Attention! Your new password should be configured following a few rules:
  • Your new password cannot contain your username (fe: if your name is Mark Philips, your new password cannot be MarkPhilips1!, MPhilips1!, Mark.philips1! or any other similar iteration).
  • It should contain at least one capital letter.
  • It should contain at least one lowercase letter.
  • It should contain at least one number.
  • It should contain at least one special character (fe ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/)
  • The system will keep track of your past 24 passwords. Your new password should differ substantially from the previous passwords in your history.

Your new password has now been set successfully! You might have to fill in your new password to continue using your Microsoft applications. Do this as soon as possible on all devices which grant you access to the BESIX Microsoft applications, like your laptop, computer, smartphone or tablet.

To guarantee a safer digital working environment for everyone within the Group, you will have to change this password every 6 months. You will be prompted to do so two weeks in advance by your computer or laptop. We recommend that you save this communication as a reference for next time.

If you have questions about the reset of your password, contact the IT Service Desk.

Thank you for you collaboration.
