Week of 28 July

1. Sohar Port team welcomes offshore platform (Oman)

At the Port of Sohar in Oman, our team is now fully mobilised for the construction of the jetty and shore protection for the Marsa LNG Project. Following a meticulous preparation phase, site installation is underway with the setup of the precast yard. A key milestone this week was the arrival of the Self Elevating Platform Pauline aboard the Seaway Eagle vessel. The platform will be used to drive the piles for the jetty and is currently being prepared to execute a test pile. Good luck, team!

2. Underwater concrete poured for De Nieuwe Meer intersection (the Netherlands)

In the Netherlands, our BESIX NL colleagues and their TriAX consortium partners are making solid progress on the reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer intersection. At the Schinkel Bridge, the outlines of the future expansion are taking shape, with the addition of two lanes planned. Last week, the team poured the pillar walls and the underwater concrete in the construction pit. With the water now pumped out, the bottom slab has also been poured. Keep it up, team!

The reconstruction of the De Nieuwe Meer intersection is one of five sub-projects within the Zuidasdok programme, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. Once completed, it will significantly improve traffic flow and safety in the southern part of Amsterdam.

3. Delivery of Eastwood Private Hospital (Australia)

In Adelaide, BESIX Watpac has successfully completed construction of the new Eastwood Private Hospital. Designed to meet the region’s growing demand for healthcare, the facility features a six-theatre perioperative floor, a 51-bed ward, and on-site medical imaging and pathology services. The project stands out not only for its technical quality, but also for its strong collaboration across all parties involved. With 87% of subcontractors sourced locally, over 1,600 jobs supported, and 360,000 construction hours delivered, it’s a great example of impact at every level. Well done to everyone involved!

4. Atlas Fondations at work for BESIX RED (France)

We love seeing our entities join forces, like in Lille, France! Atlas Fondations, the French subsidiary of Franki Foundations, is currently working on the foundations for the PURE - La Madeleine project, a development of BESIX RED. Atlas Fondations is handling the demolition of existing piles and the construction of a 408 secant pile wall using double rotation techniques. Great teamwork all around!

This 8,000 m² office development focuses on connectivity, sustainability and occupant wellbeing. With features like solar panels and heat pumps, the project is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and WELL ‘Gold’ certifications.

And then this... Have you listened yet?

Our Group’s Chief People Officer and Sustainability & ESG Officer, Geert Aelbrecht, recently joined the Let’s Talk – Specials podcast series. In this Dutch-spoken episode, he shares his perspective on well-being at work, alongside Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, Professor at Oxford University. A thoughtful conversation worth tuning into!
