Week of 26 June

1. 9 June, a prolific date for water treatment stations in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

LuxTP and BESIX Environment recently delivered the electromechanical equipment of the water treatment station and water basin of Nachtmanderscheid. The new plant was officially inaugurated on 9 June, the same day as the water treatment station of Putscheid! Congratulations for this second inauguration!

2. Italian Transport Minister visits Valfabbrica site to witness steady progress (Italy)

On 16 June, the Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini visited the Valfabbrica site. He was impressed by the progress made on this major infrastructure project in the region of Umbria in Italy. Indeed, in one of the two tunnels, excavation works have already reached a third of the required length.

Good job to our Italian colleagues!

Overall, the project involves the doubling the state road 318 over 3.1 kilometers on behalf of the Italian Highway Authority ANAS. This stretch of road includes the Picchiarella and Casa Castalda tunnels, with lengths of 874 metres and 1,545 metres respectively, as well as the Tre Vescovi viaduct and the Calvario bridge.

3. Ministerial visit at the Vandeuren site (Belgium)

On Monday 19 June, Thomas Dermine, Deputy to the Minister for the Economy and Labour, and State Secretary for Economic Recovery and Strategic Investment, and Nawal Ben Hamou, Secretary of State for the Brussels-Capital Region, responsible for Housing and Equal Opportunities, visited the Vandeuren site in Brussels, guided by Etienne Banse, Managing Director of Jacques Delens, the BESIX entity in charge of this project.

The Vandeuren project is a circular renovation project of a 160-unit block in the south-east of Brussels. The project includes exemplary environmental achievements, especially in terms of water and waste management. It follows a circular economy model by reusing many materials.

Don’t miss the full report on this magnificent sustainable project in the next issue of our internal magazine INSIDE, coming soon!

4. Deloitte University EMEA nearing delivery (France)

On 21 June the team of the Deloitte University EMEA went through the “commission de sécurité” (civil defense inspection), a very important milestone before the delivery of the project.

All tests were successful, only one nonconformity has been pointed out and has to be cleared by 30 June. We are getting close to completion!

A specific word of thanks to the project team who went above and beyond to reach this successful milestone!

And then this…

This weekend 4 BESIX athletes completed the ¼-triathlon in Bruges. They swam 1000 metres, then cycled 45 kilometres and ran 10 kilometres in the breathtaking decor of the ‘Venice of the North’, the beautiful medieval city of Bruges and its surrounding polders*.
