Week of 26 January
1. Progress from Gabon
Work is moving ahead on the new Ebel-Abanga Bridge in Gabon, where our teams are fully engaged in the foundation works and reinforcement works for the abutment walls. Together with Franki Foundations, they are installing 70 micropiles and around 100 driven tube piles that will support the future structure. The bridge is part of a wider infrastructure programme in Libreville, which also includes two urban flyovers and four pedestrian bridges. It’s a great example of teamwork across our Group as we help strengthen mobility in the region.
2. 11 months of progress at Aerospacelab’s Megafactory (Belgium)
In Charleroi, the transformation of Aerospacelab’s Megafactory over the past 11 months has been remarkable. This state-of-the-art facility will eventually produce up to 500 satellites a year, making it Europe’s largest satellite factory and the third largest worldwide. The difference between February 2025 (pic 4) and today (pic 1-3) is striking, with major structural milestones now clearly visible. A great moment to look back at how far the site has come!
3. Last pile installed for Tanga jetty project (Tanzania)
In Tanga Bay on Tanzania’s north coast, our team has reached an important milestone on the Tanga Jetty project. Earlier this week, they installed the final pile for the jetty and load‑out facilities! This brings us one step closer to completion and reflects the steady progress made on site. Well done to everyone involved!
4. Concrete milestone in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, our BESIX NL colleagues, working within the De Groene Waarden consortium, have marked an important step forward on the A27 motorway project between Houten and Everdingen. The team poured the first concrete for the extension of an underpass in Vianen, allowing them to move ahead with rebar works for the second section. Once that is completed, they will begin concreting the walls and top deck. Well done, team, and onwards to the next phase!
And then this... Several entities organise trainings on safety (Belgium and the Netherlands)
Across our Group, several specialised and regional entities have recently held their annual safety days and training sessions. Socogetra focused on practical themes like slips and falls, first aid and preventing back pain. In the Netherlands, BESIX Infra Nederland dedicated their safety day to raising awareness about safe working conditions. BESIX Infra has also completed its annual Winter Trainings, while BESIX Unitec has just started theirs. A big thank you to all teams for keeping safety front of mind!
