Week of 23 March

1. A day of inspiration with the BESIX Group Annual Meeting (Belgium)

Last Thursday, colleagues from across the BESIX Group gathered in Antwerp for the 2026 Annual Meeting. The day brought together leadership from around the world for presentations, panel discussions, and open exchanges on strategy, safety, and priorities for the year ahead. Younger talents also took the stage to share their experiences from different regions and entities, adding fresh perspectives to the conversations. It was a valuable moment to reflect, learn from one another and look forward together!

2. Concrete train in Nordhavn (Denmark)

We received a great bird’s‑eye view of the ‘concrete train’ in action at the Nordhavn Tunnel project in Copenhagen (Denmark). The team has now started the top‑slab phase using the Variokit tunnel carriage system, allowing the outer wall and top slab to be cast in one continuous sequence. Meanwhile, the centre wall and base slabs are being cast, and our Earthworks and Ground Engineering colleagues are preparing the area for the upcoming concrete works. Well done, team Nordhavn!

3. Jong BESIX NL visits Krammer Locks workshop (The Netherlands)

Last week, Jong BESIX Nederland – our BYC Community in the Netherlands – visited the Iemants workshop in Vlissingen, where the lock doors for the Krammer Lock complex are being renovated and modernised. BESIX NL colleague Didier Droogné gave an insightful look into the technical challenges of this major infrastructure project and showed how different expert teams are working closely together to find practical and smart solutions. The visit perfectly reflected JBN’s aim: learning from one another, deepening knowledge, and growing through shared experience. Moments like these highlight how inspiring it is to see colleagues and projects up close. Amazing!

*The BESIX Young Community, or BYC, brings together BESIX employees under the age of 36, in particular through the organisation of activities aimed at creating a network and a community. Such communities exist in several countries where the Group is active.

4. Progress at Shellharbour Hospital (Australia)

In Australia, construction of the new Shellharbour Hospital is steadily taking shape. The main building structure has advanced well, major groundworks are complete and concrete slabs have been poured across the site. Work is also underway on the multi‑storey car park, with structural activities progressing in parallel. Once finished, the hospital will offer expanded and modernised health services – including a larger emergency department – to support the growing needs of the Illawarra region. The project remains on track for completion in late 2027.

And then this... Socogetra nominated for Trends Gazellen 2026

Great news from Belgium: Socogetra has been nominated by Trends Gazellen in the fast-growing companies category for the province of Luxembourg. The award recognises organisations that have grown in a healthy and sustainable way over recent years. This nomination is a tribute to the daily commitment of all colleagues. Congratulations, Socogetra!

Socogetra isn’t the only BESIX company that is nominated. We recently announced that BESIX Unitec is also nominated in the large companies category for the province of Antwerp!
