Week of 8 December

1. Progress at Sohar Port (Oman)

In Oman, our team is making solid progress on the marine infrastructure works at Sohar Port and Freezone. The project includes building a LNG jetty, installing shore protection and creating an advanced drainage network, as part of the Marsa LNG project. Key to these works is the jack-up platform Pauline, which is currently driving piles and placing prefabricated beams for the new LNG jetty.

2. Celebrating Saint Barbara’s Day in Ancona (Italy)

On 4 December, our team at the State Road 16 project in Ancona marked Saint Barbara’s Day, patron saint of miners and tunnel workers, with a traditional Mass alongside colleagues and representatives of our client ANAS. The occasion was a moment of collegiality and a reminder of our daily commitment to safety, recognition for those working in demanding conditions, and the team spirit shared by company, partner and client.

Together with our partner Donati, we are delivering a 3.3‑kilometre road link to improve access to the Port of Ancona, including two excavated tunnels and a 285‑metre viaduct.

3. Roof installation at Rail Baltica Riga Central Station underway (Latvia)

In Latvia, the BERERIX team has begun installing the roof of the new Rail Baltica Riga Central Station, giving the site a more defined shape. The team is currently laying the first layer, while the glass façade and roof elements have been delivered and will be installed when weather conditions allow. Inside, works are progressing steadily, shaping the station’s future spaces.

The project is on track, with major construction scheduled for completion in 2026 and passenger services expected to start in summer 2027. Alongside the station, the works include a railway bridge over the Daugava River and significant track upgrades.

4. VIP visit at Socogetra (Belgium)

This week, Socogetra welcomed François Desquesnes, Walloon Vice-President and Minister for Territory, Infrastructure, Mobility and Local Authorities, to the Capitte bridge site near La Louvière. The existing bridge is being demolished and replaced with a modern, more slender structure designed to blend into its heritage surroundings while improving mobility and safety for buses, pedestrians and cyclists.

And then this... Technical Office Meeting in Halle (Belgium)

Last month, the BESIX Belgium-Luxembourg team held another successful Technical Office Meeting, bringing together technical office engineers and staff for a session of learning and knowledge sharing. This edition took place at the Bospoort bridge project in Halle, where participants visited the site and explored AI possibilities in project follow-up. Both French- and Dutch-speaking colleagues attended, with over 60 participants joining the event.
