Week of 17 February
1. VIP visit and stress management class at Zayed National Museum (UAE)
This week, our Group CEO, Pierre Sironval, and Managing Director for the Middle East, Jean-Pol Bouharmont, visited the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi (UAE) to witness the remarkable progress made by the BESIX Middle East team. Set for completion later this year, the museum will celebrate Sheikh Zayed’s life, legacy, and the history of the UAE.
Beyond the Zayed National Museum, BESIX Middle East is also constructing the Guggenheim Museum on Saadiyat Island, which is emerging as a cultural hub for Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE.
Meanwhile, workers recently took part in a stress management class, which was held, of course, with breathtaking views of the museum in the background.
2. BESIX Infra meets Socogetra (Belgium)
Last Friday, BESIX Infra organised an insightful visit to Socogetra, another BESIX entity in Belgium. The day began in Leignon, where Socogetra is transforming a major level crossing for TUC Rail into a bridge with an underpass for cyclists and pedestrians. The group then headed to Socogetra’s headquarters in Marche-en-Famenne before concluding their tour at the impressive Carrière des Limites quarry, known for its high-quality limestone. A highlight of the visit was definitely witnessing a spectacular controlled explosion. It’s wonderful to see our entities come together and exchange knowledge!
3. Strong partnership between BESIX Middle East and Al Bawani (Saudi Arabia)
BESIX Middle East, represented by our Group’s Executive Vice-Chairman Johan Beerlandt, and Al Bawani have signed a memorandum of understanding to emphasise their commitment to driving excellence and innovation in the construction sector by working on iconic and complex projects that support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The MoU was signed during the Private Sector Forum on 12-13 February and aims to transform the future of construction and infrastructure in the country. The Belgian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr Pascal Grégoire was in attendance of this strategic singature.
4. Franki Foundations at work in Mont-Saint-Guibert (Belgium)
In Mont-Saint-Guibert (Belgium), Franki Foundations is contributing to the reconstruction of a major intersection, which involves replacing a roundabout with an improved design featuring tunnels and bridges to enhance traffic flow. During the first phase, they installed nearly 500 sequential piles to support the future tunnel. Now in the second phase, the team is installing prestressed anchors to ensure the stability of these piles and the long-term safety of the infrastructure. Keep up the good work, colleagues!
And then this... Isopearls is shining at Batibouw (Belgium)
From 15 until 23 February, the major construction fair Batibouw takes place in Brussels (Belgium). Among the many exhibitors is Vanhout's entity Isopearls, which specialises in using expanded polystyrene as a high-quality insulation mortar or for cavity wall installation. For this event, they have created an impressive branded stand, as you can admire in the pictures below.
