Week of 10 April
1. Franki Foundations present at “Conference on Foundations Decarbonisation and Re-Use” in Amsterdam
Maurice Bottiau, General Manager of Franki Foundations, did the opening speech at the « Conference on Foundations Decarbonisation and Re-Use » in Amsterdam at the end of March.
This international conference aimed to address the challenges that the construction industry and the deep foundation industry are facing, as they are both largely contributing to CO2 emissions. The conference covered these aspects with a focus on the overall concept of foundation decarbonisation and reuse, the assessment of existing foundations, the associated design aspects, and finally the impact this will have on the construction phase.
The conference was organised among others by the ‘Deep Foundation Institute Europe’, of which Maurice Bottiau is the president.
At the occasion of this conference, Franki Foundations produced this video about their efforts in sustainability.
2. Abobo tunnel slab waterproof (Ivory Coast)
The Abobo team is carrying out waterproofing works on the Abobo tunnel project in Abidjan, using a waterproofing layer to protect the slab from weathering and leaks, applied for uniform and effective application. The surface of the slab is first thoroughly cleaned to remove all impurities and ensure optimum adhesion of the waterproofing membrane. In general, single-ply waterproofing is an economical and effective solution for sealing a slab. Way to go, Abobo team!
3. Dubai Uptown Tower in safe hands (UAE)
The Dubai Uptown Tower team organised their ‘zero harm initiative’ last week, a safety campaign addressing all aspects of safety on a building site, with strong participation from all stakeholders. You can see for yourself in the video below the exercises and workshops the workers could participate in ! Great job, Dubai and HSE team!
4. BESIX Bimmers in Paris (France)
Our BIM Team from the Netherlands, Belgium, and France had the chance to participate in the BIM World event last week in Paris. BIM World takes place every year in Paris and gathers all main suppliers of BIM-software and BIM-services, around conferences and workshops. Our Dutch, Belgian, and French Bimmers could discover or rediscover the BIM industry software. This was also a great opportunity for them to share experience and knowledge across departments and get to know their fellow colleagues.
The group used this opportunity to visit the Tour Triangle site next door to witness the progress of the works on this tower which will change Paris’ skyline. They were able to see a demonstration of the BIMPrinter®, which printed our BESIX logo on the floor of the tower! The BIMPrinter® has been successfully used on the Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat (Morocco), the Socogetra HQ (Belgium), and soon in the RTBF HQ (Belgium).
And then this... Fly over a cycling track (Belgium)
Ever flown above a cycling track? You can do it with the drone video below of the Heusden-Zolder project by Vanhout!
You can also see the start of the construction of the 4 sports fields in the courtyard. It immediately becomes clear how immense the sports hall is!
