Week of 5 August
1. Saint John of God Hospital reaches practical completion (Australia)
The Saint John of God Hospital expansion that BESIX Watpac is building in Ballarat, in the state of Victoria, is ready to be handed over to the client. This eagerly awaited piece of health infrastructure is yet another example of our Australian colleagues’ expertise in managing large-scale healthcare facilities. Watch the journey of the project in the timelapse below. Congratulations to our Australian colleagues on this incredible milestone.
2. BESIX Infra completes phase 4 of N446 Waasmunster project (Belgium)
In less than 3 months, our BESIX Infra colleagues laid 1.5 km of regional road and 3 km of safe cycle paths, installed a complete pumping station for separate sewerage, and built a roundabout in Waasmunster… All this making maximum use of CO2-poor asphalt. A large ditch was also constructed, allowing rainwater from the roundabout to infiltrate into the soil before draining into the sewage system and adjacent canals via overflow pipes. Congrats BESIX Infra on these sustainable solutions!
3. Ministerial visit in Gabon
Last week, the Gabonese Minister of Public Works visited our bridge project in Libreville. In the picture you can see him standing on the Owendo pedestrian bridge. As part of this project, we are building two 200-metre-long flyovers and four pedestrian bridges in the capital Libreville, and a 200-metre-long bridge across the Abanga River in Ebel, a city located on the Transgabonese road. The project aims at improving traffic flow and enhancing pedestrian safety around schools and markets.
4. Tower crane is up at The Hive (Belgium)
A huge tower crane has just made its appearance in the busy centre of Brussels at The Hive project, a 60,100 m² office building we are renovating for BNP Paribas Fortis, with a strong focus on material circularity. BESIX is in charge of all renovation works, from asbestos removal to the transformation of the existing thirteen floor building.
And then this… The POST (The Netherlands)
The POST project is making good progress. The team in Rotterdam completed concreting works of the building’s core up to level 25, reaching a height of 90 metres, way above half the height of the building. The floor has reached level 23. More information soon!
